FICS is a non profit charity that relies on funding through Grants, Foundations and Donations.

A volunteer Board of Directors governs FICS and a core group of volunteers work on a daily basis to provide vital information to the residents of Flamborough.

Youth Employment Services (YES)

YES operates every summer from May to August every year.   This free service offers Summer Jobs, Resume Writing skills, and Interview skills. 

Stop by the office to register.

YES is also linked with Student Employment that is listed on the Internet & Human Resources Development Canada in order to be current with availability of jobs for students.

Canadian Tire Jump Start Program

Canadian Tire JumpStart is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need participate in organized sports and recreation such as hockey, dance, soccer and swimming. Canadian Tire JumpStart is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need aged 4-18 participate in organized sports and recreation such as hockey, dance, soccer and swimming aged so they can develop important life skills, self esteem and confidence.

National in scope but local in focus, Canadian Tire JumpStart delivers support to children through a Canadian-wide network of local chapters, made up of a variety of community leaders committed to helping kids get active, such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters Canada, YMCA, and Parks and Recreation and Flamborough Information and Community Services ( FICS)

These community partners are joined by Canadian Tire Associate Dealers and Petroleum Agents, and together the chapters identify children in financial need who would benefit from the program.

Child and Adolescent Services

Child and Adolescent Services strives to help children, adolescents and their families who need help understanding and dealing with problems. This clinic offers a Three Session Consultation Service in Flamborough every other Tuesday Afternoon. This service provides individuals and families with up to three counselling sessions which will focus on an issue, explore solutions and develop ideas to increase hope and provide an opening for change.

Alternative for Youth  (AY)

A variety of services are available for youth ages 13 - 22 who are experiencing difficulties related to substance use/abuse . Support is also provided to parents / families.

Services include - individual counselling, family support, group counselling speakers for drug/alcohol presentations * professional consultations *

Waterdown Information & Sexual Health Centre

The Waterdown Sexual Health Clinic provides a range of confidential services to the adolescent population such as counselling, information, free pregnancy and STD testing, abstinence information, low-cost oral contraceptives ($8/package), as well as free condoms and emergency contraceptive pill (ECP). The Clinic is open from 3 – 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and is located on the 2nd floor of the Waterdown Early Years Centre building (Chrestnut Grove), 315 Dundas Street East.

Flamborough Youth Centre

Held on Fridays  ( 7:30 – 9:30) in the new space at the Flamborough YMCA offering PS2, PS3- Guitar Hero, WII  Ping Pong and other games. Special events and contests, X Box 360, Air Hockey, Hang out area and gym space. Ages 10 – 15yrs.  Cost is $ 5.00 pp free for Y members. YMCA at 905- 690-3555
